Woman of the Year: The Woman of the Year nominee is a leader in transportation and makes an outstanding contribution to the Transportation industry. The nominee contributes to the advancement of women through programs or opportunities and advances the reputation and credibility of women in transportation.
Criteria:
- Demonstrated outstanding leadership and professional integrity.
- Significant contributions to the advancement of women in the transportation field.
- Recognized for professional excellence and innovation in her area of expertise.
- Active participation or support of WTS programs, mentorship, or community outreach.

2025 WTS San Antonio Region Women of the Year - Laura Lopez
WTS San Antonio Region is proud to honor Laura Lopez as the 2025 Woman of the Year. Laura Lopez has been a cornerstone of TxDOT communications for 30 years, demonstrating exceptional professionalism, leadership, and resilience. As San Antonio’s chief spokesperson, she has led traffic safety messaging, emergency communications, and major projects like the I-35 NEX Program with trusted authority. Her unmatched institutional knowledge, commitment to customer service, and mentorship have made a lasting impact on TxDOT, transportation, and the communities it serves.
