Map the Gap
A first-of-its-kind look at the experiences of women across Toronto’s transportation sector.
Women right here in Toronto are helping plan, design, build, operate, and lead one of the most transformative transportation sectors in North America.
So why don’t we have a comprehensive picture of our collective experience?
It is time to Map the Gap.
Map the Gap is a WTS Toronto research and engagement initiative that will establish a sector-wide baseline of the experiences, opportunities and barriers facing women working in transportation.
Across public, private and non-profit transportation organizations, employers and industry leaders are working to attract, retain and advance women, but current data is not consistently comparable or available across the sector.
Through a broad industry survey, focus groups, and supporting research, we will explore issues including:
- workplace culture and experience;
- leadership pathways and advancement;
- pay and opportunity;
- bias and barriers; and
- the changing nature of work across the transportation sector.
Together we will uncover critical gaps across the sector, understand where women are thriving, reveal hidden barriers, and create evidence to support meaningful action.
The findings will help WTS Toronto strengthen our programming and advocacy while giving employers, institutions and industry leaders practical insight into recruitment, retention, advancement and workplace experience.
Your experience will help us Map the Gap.
The sector-wide survey is coming soon.
We want to hear from women across transportation, across organizations, disciplines, career stages and experiences. The broader the participation, the stronger the picture we can build. When the survey launches, you can help by:
- sharing your own experience;
- encouraging women across your organization and network to participate; and
- helping us reach beyond WTS and across Toronto’s transportation sector.
