Join WTS-GNY’s Glass Ceiling Committee and Continue the Momentum Beyond the Baseline

The WTS–Greater New York (WTS-GNY) Glass Ceiling Committee is proud to announce the release of the Beyond the Baseline 2025 Report. This report represents a significant advancement in our ongoing effort to understand and address barriers to women’s leadership within the Greater New York transportation industry.

Building upon the 2019 Baseline Study for Future Benchmarking of Women in Leadership Roles and the 2020 Employee Survey, the updated report provides an updated assessment of women’s professional representation across public and private transportation organizations. Drawing from survey responses and focus group insights collected between 2024 and 2025, the report continues to track the progress and state of women’s advancement across the Greater New York area. The results help us to continue tracking the progress and state of women's professional advancement in both public and private transportation sectors, while the report examines:

  • Trends in women’s advancement into management and executive roles since 2019
  • Comparative analysis of sector-specific data and organizational structures
  • Persistent barriers to upward mobility, including workplace culture, mentorship access, and policy implementation gaps
  • Recommendations for industry partners and policymakers to promote equity and inclusion across all levels of leadership

To continue this important work, the Glass Ceiling Committee is seeking new members to support the next phase of research, outreach, and advocacy. We welcome professionals with skills in data analysis, survey research, technical writing, and graphic design, as well as those passionate about advancing gender equity in transportation.

The committee meets monthly, and members have opportunities to participate in survey development, communications, and report production leading up to the next benchmarking study
