Celebrating Pride Month
On behalf of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee of the WTS-Baltimore Chapter, we wanted to reach out to our membership in honor of Pride Month to celebrate and recognize the achievements of those members and allies of the LGBTQ community. We certainly appreciate you being members of our organization, and we are working hard to continue the development of programing and activities that achieve equity in transportation for all.
The original rainbow flag (a) represents all people under the umbrella of the LGBTQ+ community. This new Pride flag (c) was designed in 2018 and has become a universal symbol for the modern queer community. The white, pink, and light blue chevron design on the Progress Pride Flag reflects the colors of the Transgender Flag (b), while the brown and black stripes represent marginalized people of color. The black stripe has a dual meaning: It also honors those lost to HIV/AIDS and is a nod to the stigma surrounding those still living with HIV.
As we continue the mission and goals of our committee, we would hope you would consider joining us to bring new ideas, activities and participation to enhance and improve our outreach efforts. We thank you for your support and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any thoughts or ideas. We welcome your comments.

A Letter from the President
Hello WTS Baltimore Members & Friends!
I’m Veronica P. McBeth your 2022 WTS Baltimore Chapter President. It is an honor to serve in this new role for the next year as we have arguably faced the toughest two years of our professional careers navigating the challenges of a pandemic, working from home, and keeping our family safe. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves, the ability to work, persevere, and thrive during these difficult times as human beings and as transportation professionals. It feels like we are closer as a people and profession.
As we move into this new year in the transportation industry, with renewed hope and opportunities with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law providing unprecedented funding to all modes, there is a lot of excitement ahead. WTS Baltimore plans to ride that wave as we look forward to hosting a hybrid of in-person and virtual events for members, sponsors, and guests.
Our goal this year is to continue to shine a light on diversity and equity. We want to take a deeper look at how transportation equity impacts both people and projects. Equity can make the difference to success, advancement, and accessibility. What a great time for us to explore this vision as we embark on this new era in transportation projects and funding.
Please join us as we offer some amazing programming and events over the next few months to support WTS Baltimore. And if you would like to take it a step further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to become a corporate sponsor. Thank you for your support and here’s to a prosperous first quarter!
