About Transportation YOU

• Background:

  • Transportation YOU (TrYOU) is a hands-on, interactive mentoring program that offers high school-aged students an introduction to a wide variety of transportation careers. The WTS Delaware Chapter began statewide programming in September 2022 and continues to provide exposure to your Delawarean youth as we kick-off the 2025-2026 program year. The mission of the Transportation YOU program is to develop the next generation of the transportation industry by growing the involvement and interest of youth in STEM studies. • Programming:

  • From 2022-2025, the WTS DE Student Outreach Committee hosted monthly Saturday workshops from September to May at various locations across the state. The goal was to expose our youth to the different transportation careers in the following sectors: planning, engineering, sign fabrication, maintenance and operations, monitoring, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. Programming also included field trips to the DelDOT Transportation Management Center and DelDOT Sign Shop.
  • For the 2025-2026 program year, we’ll be hosting a Fall 2025 TrYOU Summit with NCC Vo-Tech High Schools and a Spring 2026 TrYOU Summit with Sussex Tech Vo-Tech and Caesar Rodney High Schools. Both Summits are exclusive to students attending the respective schools.
