Scholarship Applications
The 2022-2023 scholarship application period is now closed.
The 2022-2023 Boston Chapter Scholarship Program application period was open through Friday, December 9, 2022, 5 pm. Scholarship winners will be announced in February 2023 and receive recognition at the WTS-Boston Annual Awards & Scholarships Banquet held in June 2023. WTS Foundation national scholarship winners are announced in Spring 2023 and receive recognition at the WTS International Annual Conference Scholarship Dinner in May 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia.

- Are international students eligible? Yes.
- Do applicants need to be WTS members? No. (Exception for WTS-Boston Mary Jane O’Meara Member Graduate Scholarship)
- Can students apply to more than 1 scholarship? Yes, but can only receive one.
- For first-year graduate students who do not yet have a GPA, can they provide something else showing they have a 3.0 GPA or higher? Yes, please provide your cumulative undergraduate GPA.
Information on each of the scholarships offered for 2022-2023 is described below.

Transportation YOU High School Scholarship
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to high school senior girls
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in a high school studying math, science, and technology
- Considering a college degree career in a transportation-related field
The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific goals, academic record and interest in transportation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WTS-Boston Chapter is offering a high school scholarship in the amount of $2,000. The winning recipient’s application is then forwarded to the WTS Foundation to be considered for the International WTS Transportation YOU High School Scholarship in the amount of $2,500

Junior College/Trade School Scholarship
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in an associate or technical degree program in transportation-related studies at a junior college, community college, or trade school
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WTS-Boston Chapter is offering a scholarship in the amount of $2,000. The recipient is then forwarded to the WTS Foundation for consideration for the International Junior College/Trade School scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

Jacquelyn R. Smith/Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WTS-Boston Chapter Jacquelyn R. Smith Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is in the amount of $4,000. The winning recipient is then forwarded to the WTS Foundation for consideration for the Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.

Molitoris Leadership Scholarship for Undergraduates
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
- Applicants for the Molitoris Leadership Scholarship are asked to specifically address the issue of leadership on their personal statement
The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record, transportation-related activities or job skills, and their leadership statement. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WTS-Boston Chapter will forward one application to the WTS Foundation for consideration for the Molitoris Leadership Scholarship for Undergraduates in the amount of $5,000.

Ann Hershfang/Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship for Graduates
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
The scholarship is competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation involvement and goals, job skills and academic record. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WTS-Boston Chapter Ann Hershfang Graduate Scholarship is $4,000. The recipient is then forwarded to the WTS Foundation for consideration for the International Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $10,000.

WTS-Boston Mary Jane O’Meara Member Graduate Scholarship
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- Currently a part-time or full-time employee in a transportation-related field
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics
- Current WTS-Boston Member who actively participates in WTS
- Applicant can only win this particular scholarship once.
- If a person applies for more than one scholarship in the same year, that applicant can only be awarded one of the scholarships – the applicant will be awarded the scholarship that best suits them and the runner up will be awarded the other.
The scholarship is competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation involvement and goals, job skills and academic record. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Paula Hammond Leadership Legacy Scholarship for Graduate Studies
The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:
- Open to women
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation planning or engineering, security planning, business management, finance or logistics with a focus on public policy
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
- Demonstrated interest in addressing transportation studies issue(s)
- Submission of a personal statement of 500 words or less highlighting candidate’s interest in transportation-related fields, relevant experiences and interests, and how this award will contribute to the candidate’s ability to make a meaningful contribution in the transportation arena
The scholarship is competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record, transportation-related activities or job skills, and personal statement. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
