Joint WTS-DC/ COMTO DC/ YPT-DC/ APA TPD Bike Tour

Saturday, May 17, 2025 | 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Please join your WTS-DC, COMTO DC, YPT DC, and APA TPD-DC colleagues on a bike tour highlighting bicycle infrastructure projects around the City of Alexandria. Bryan Hayes, the Complete Streets Coordinator for the City, will join us on the bike tour to share information about past, present, and upcoming bike infrastructure planning projects. PDH credits may be provided for all participants.

A map of the tentative bike tour route is available here - Bike Tour Route Map. The start/end of the route is at the Potomac Yard Metro Station North Pavilion.

The anticipated length of the route will be about 11 miles, and the pace will be suitable for beginner-level cyclists. This will be a “no-drop” ride so you do not need to worry about not keeping up or being left behind! We will be joined by our City of Alexandria representative, Bryan Hayes, to give his perspective on the City’s project development and implementation process during the bike tour. Bryan is the Complete Streets Coordinator at the Alexandria Department of Transportation and Environmental Services (T&ES).

All registered attendees will be required to bring their own bike and sign a liability waiver the morning of the event before the ride begins. Please arrive at Potomac Yard Metro Station North Pavilion at 9:15 AM. A WTS-DC member on the planning committee will meet you. Helmet use will be mandatory for this ride. Please remember to bring sun protection and water. Additional snacks and drinks will be provided thanks to the generous sponsorship of APA TPD-DC. To make the ride fun, manageable, and SAFE, this event will be capped at 40 participants, excluding our special guest and ride leaders. If registration for the event exceeds 20 people, we will split into two ride groups during the tour. This event will be held rain or shine, with a shortened ride distance if there is significant rain.

If you have any event questions, please contact Jeff Parker (WTS & COMTO), Nadiya Kutishcheva (WTS), Haoyun Wang (APA TPD), or Mehul Gupta (YPT). If you have any registration questions, please contact Laura Duke (WTS-DC Program Logistics) or Sophie Guiny (WTS-DC President).
