Scholarships
2022 Scholarships are OPEN for application!
This year, we are pleased to announce four (4) scholarship opportunities totaling $10,000 for eligible, undergraduate and graduate students from area schools. This includes the 7th year of the Matt Riffkin Legacy Scholarship with an increased award amount of $4,000, as well as three (3) awards in the amount of $2,000 each. We have also added one (1) award in the amount of $500 for a high school student accepted to a higher education institution. Additionally, local chapter recipients will be eligible to apply for WTS International Scholarship opportunities.
In order to be considered for the $500 high school student scholarship, you must be a woman graduating from high school in 2022 and accepted to a higher education institution. Please attach the following:
- School transcripts demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Personal statement of 1,000 words or less describing your choice of college studies

Undergraduate & Graduate Student Application
In order to be considered for one of three (3) $2,000 university or college‐student scholarships, you must be a woman pursuing a degree related to transportation. Please attach the following:
- School transcripts demonstrating a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Personal statement of 1,000 words or less describing your choice of college studies
In order to be considered for the Matt Riffkin Legacy Scholarship in the amount of $4,000, please
attach the elements above in addition to the following:
- An essay of 1,000 words or less describing how you will use your course of study to help solve a regional transportation challenge of your choosing and why you chose that issue
