Yes for Meck - WTS Charlotte Supports Transportation Sales Tax Referendum
WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter recently hosted the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (CRBA) for a breakfast informational session. The CRBA is leading the Yes for Meck campaign, which advocates for a proposed 1-cent Mecklenburg County sales tax dedicated to funding transportation investments across our region.
At the session, CRBA encouraged attendees to help build support for the referendum—both within their firms and throughout the community. If approved, the tax could generate $25 billion over the next 30 years. The funding would be allocated as follows:
- 40% for road improvements
- 40% for rail transit expansion
- 20% for bus service and new on-demand “microtransit,” similar to ride-hailing services like Uber.
This vote is more than just a tax decision—it represents a pivotal opportunity for Mecklenburg County to shape how our communities move, grow, and thrive for decades to come.
Recognizing the importance of this referendum, WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter has made a financial contribution to the CRBA’s Yes for Meck campaign to support their voter education efforts.
WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter invites our members and friends to join us in supporting this critical initiative. Below, you will find materials to help with outreach, and we also encourage you to visit yesformeck.com for additional information.
