President’s Message - Fall 2025

Dear WTS-DC Chapter Members and Friends,

It is hard to believe that fall is in full swing and the holidays are almost upon us. We have been busy planning our December 2 Holiday Party at the National Press Club. That is right - we have outgrown Hotel Monaco and are moving to a new venue. Please join us to celebrate our award and scholarship winners and network - you know our party is the place to be!

WTS-DC’s program calendar was busy this summer and early fall, starting with our summer membership event in June. In September, we held our annual event with VDOT, learning from a group of inspiring women leaders on how to plan and design smart and resilient future transportation. And in October, we held our annual cocktails and conversation event with Randy Clarke, WMATA GM and CEO - thank you to the many sponsors who made this event possible.

Providing professional development opportunities is a core part of what we do as a chapter. We had a very timely workshop this fall with Meghan Slipka on “Managing Stress to Avoid Burnout”, and our mentoring program is wrapping up another successful, record-breaking year. Being active is a great way to manage stress, and discover the region - our fall bike event, held jointly with COMTO, took participants on a tour of bike infrastructure in Prince George’s County.

As I wrap up my term as chapter president, I am grateful for all the board members, advisors and volunteers who work tirelessly for the success of WTS-DC. We are already looking ahead to 2026, and would love to have you join our committees, so please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you are interested.

Wishing you all a happy (almost) holiday season,

Sophie Guiny

WTS-DC Chapter President
