2021 President’s Message

Hello WTS Baltimore Members & Friends!

On behalf of the WTS Baltimore Board and Committee Chairs, I want to wish everyone a happy 2021. We thank you for your continued support of the WTS Baltimore Chapter. While 2020 was challenging in so many unexpected ways, our chapter was able to continue to persevere through your support and our switch to an all-virtual platform.

We accomplished so much in 2020! In the spring, we awarded our Nicole Washington Scholarship to a deserving Morgan State University student and held our Conversation with series with MDOT MVA Administrator. Over the summer, our Membership Committee hosted a virtual trivia night. In the fall, we joined MDOT in their Walktober event at BWI Trail, kicked off our next class of our Young Mentorship program, continued our partnership with Patterson High School and Girls Scouts of Central Maryland for our Transportation You Programs, started our inaugural Next Level Mentorship program, and partnered with MEGA MD. Our Membership Committee also hosted a virtual Cocktails and Conversations and a virtual fitness program. Our Diversity & Inclusion Committee hosted training for the Board which was then continued with training offered to all our members last month. Finally, we concluded 2020 with our virtual annual awards ceremony - it was great to see so many familiar faces, even if it only could be through a computer screen!

We have continued our programming and started 2021 with a bang!! Last month, we held our annual Board Retreat to plan out our year, held another fitness program, had a panel with MDOT Women in Finance, and concluded the month with D&I Training.  We have an exciting line up of programs for 2021 including a panel for Black History Month, a book event celebrating Women’s History Month, and our annual MDOT Appreciation event later this spring. We have a new programming system so please check your spam if you do not receive notifications for these events or check out our revamped website at  https://www.wtsinternational.org/chapters/baltimore.

Again, I would also like to say a BIG Thank You to all our Corporate Partners for their support – we could not offer so many exciting programs without you!

Stay Healthy and Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Pam Destino
