2026 Award Categories
Project Awards
Planning Transportation Project of the Year - Planning
This award honors the planning efforts for projects that increase transportation choices for all populations. (Examples: Transportation studies; complete streets plans or projects, plans for pedestrian, streets, highways, aviation, parking, maritime, transit or rail; development and expansion of transportation systems; development and expansion of trail system)
Transportation Project of the Year - Design Under $10 Million
This award honors design projects under $10 Million construction value that have completed a significant project milestone (i.e. 15%, 30%, 60%, 90%). (Examples: Streetscape, Underground Utility, Aviation, Highway/Freeway, Interchange)
Transportation Project of the Year - Design Over $10 Million
This award honors design projects over $10 Million construction value that have completed a significant project milestone (i.e. 15%, 30%, 60%, 90%). (Examples: Streetscape, Underground Utility, Aviation, Highway/Freeway, Interchange)
Transportation Project of the Year - Construction Under $10 Million
This award honors construction projects under $10 Million construction value. (Examples: Streetscape, Underground Utility, Aviation, Highway/Freeway, Interchange)
Transportation Project of the Year - Construction Over $10 Million
This award honors construction projects over $10 Million construction value. (Examples: Streetscape, Underground Utility, Aviation, Highway/Freeway, Interchange)
Organization Awards
Agency of the Year
The Agency of the Year award is designed to honor an agency for their support of the goals and purpose of WTS by recruiting, retaining, and advancing women.
Employer of the Year
The Employer of the Year award is designed to honor an organization for their support of the goals and purpose of WTS by recruiting, retaining, and advancing women.
Introducing . . . Individual Recognition Awards
You’ve heard about our Transportation Project Awards and Organization Awards—and you may already know about the scholarships WTS-CenCal offers to support the next generation of transportation professionals. This year, we are proud to expand our Transportation Awards program with a new opportunity to recognize the people whose leadership, service, and advocacy make a difference in our industry: the WTS-CenCal Individual Recognition Awards.
For the first time, WTS-CenCal is inviting our community to submit nominations in six individual award categories:
Public Sector Woman of the Year
Honors a woman whose leadership and achievements have advanced public-sector transportation programs, projects, policies, or services.
Private Sector Woman of the Year
Honors a woman whose professional excellence and leadership have positively influenced transportation projects, clients, colleagues, and the broader industry.
Member of the Year
Recognizes a WTS-CenCal member whose exceptional service and engagement have strengthened the chapter, its programs, and its mission.
Emerging Woman of the Year
Recognizes a student or young professional who demonstrates initiative, leadership potential, and a commitment to building a career in transportation.
Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award
Celebrates a woman whose distinguished career has created a lasting legacy of professional achievement, leadership, mentorship, and service.
WTS Champion Award
Recognizes an individual of any gender who actively advocates for, creates opportunities for, and advances women in transportation.
