In the fall, the WTS Philadelphia Student Chapter had the unique opportunity to tour the I-95 Central Access Philadelphia (CAP) Project construction site. Led by Frank Bonito and Maggie Gallagher of Hill International, with contributions from Doug Robbins of AECOM and Jesse Gormley of Pennoni, the tour provided students with an in-depth look at the planning, design, and construction of this transformative infrastructure project.

Students learned how the $328.9 million CAP Project will reconnect Old City to Penn’s Landing by capping I-95 and Columbus Boulevard, creating an 11.5-acre public park and extending the South Street Pedestrian Bridge. The discussion highlighted the complexities of building over an active interstate while maintaining traffic flow and ensuring public safety.

Thank you to Hill International, AECOM, and Pennoni for sharing your expertise and leading such an engaging and informative visit.
