Kate Mattice has over thirty years’ experience leading regional and federal government organizations. At NVTC, she oversees a team managing more than $350 million in funding for transit services in Northern Virginia, including the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. NVTC co-owns the Virginia Railway Express and operates the Commuter Choice program, which allocates express lane toll revenues to transit and multimodal projects. She specializes in performance management, financial analysis, legislative development, and strategic planning.

The event brought together professionals from across the transportation sector for networking over coffee followed by a lively discussion on current challenges and opportunities facing our industry in the Northern Virginia Region.

Kate shared insights into her career journey, highlighting the importance of mentorship, professional relationships, developing the next generation of leaders, and continuous learning on advancing women in transportation. She emphasized the value of collaboration and encouraged attendees to seek diverse perspectives in both their professional and personal lives without forgetting their values and authenticity. Participants had the chance to ask questions, which sparked meaningful conversations about leadership, public policy, and community impact.

The WTS-DC Chapter extends its gratitude to Kate Mattice for her openness and inspiration, as well as to everyone who attended and contributed to this memorable event. Our Chapter also thanks the NVTC Arlington office for their hospitality in hosting us.

Stay tuned for more upcoming programs designed to connect and empower our members!
