WTS-Boston President's Message
Closing Out Our 45th Year
As we close out 2025 and the 45th anniversary of WTS-Boston, I want to express my sincere thanks to the people who built this chapter. To our past presidents and trailblazers, your leadership and vision created the foundation we continue to build on today. We are proud to be the largest chapter in all of WTS International, with more than 500 members and growing.
This moment also marks the midpoint of my term as President. It has been a meaningful first year, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Our focus has remained steady: growing representation in our leadership and membership, strengthening engagement with members and sponsors, and expanding our presence in underrepresented parts of the transportation industry.
This year marked several important milestones. We officially launched the Emerging Leaders Program after two successful pilot years, and we are now seeing the impact of this initiative on our leadership pipeline. Our Northeastern University Student Chapter became an official WTS chapter, expanding our presence among student leaders and future professionals. And we hosted our 8th annual Transportation YOU Summit, welcoming high school students from across the region and showing them what a future in transportation can look like.
As we look to 2026, we will continue this momentum. We are preparing to launch public sector focus groups and a chapter-wide membership survey to better understand how we can serve both engaged and non-engaged members. We are also working to improve alignment between our Board and Advisory Board, making sure our decision-making reflects the full strength of our leadership.
To our 2025 leadership team, our Board, Advisory Board, Committee Co-Chairs, and volunteers, thank you. Your time, energy, and creativity make this chapter what it is. And to our incoming 2026 team, I cannot wait to work with you in the year ahead.
If you are looking for a way to get involved, now is the perfect time. Whether you are returning to volunteer or stepping in for the first time, we welcome your voice.
Thank you again for your support and partnership. Wishing you and your families a joyful and restful holiday season.
With gratitude,
Sarah D. Bergman
