“HNTB prides itself in supporting the advancement of women in transportation, and supports the goals and objectives of WTS,” said HNTB’s, Mary Conway, PE, senior vice president. “WTS’ support of women’s transportation careers and ambitions has been crucial to the transportation industry.” As a firm, HNTB has nearly 200 WTS members including female and male senior executives. many of the firm’s employees are either current or former national- and chapter-level leaders. We have approximately 30 women in executive leadership (this is VP, SVP and above).

We have experienced an increasing proportion of minority, female and veteran employees within the firm at all levels, including administrative, technical and management positions. HNTB undertakes outreach and positive recruitment activities with colleges, universities and leading diversity organizations such as COMTO, WTS, SWE, AMAC and NSBE. Activities include establishing meaningful contacts with diversity organization leaders, attending career fairs and contributing to sponsorship and scholarship programs. On a yearly basis, HNTB managers, supervisors and human resources staff involved in recruiting, screening, selection, promotion, disciplinary and other related employment processes receive training regarding the affirmative action program, diversity and inclusion. Additionally, HTNB reviews and refines its employment practices regularly to ensure its personnel programs are consistent with the affirmative action program for the employment and advancement of diversity in the workplace. Inclusive and diverse interview teams are encouraged during the interview process.
