On April 29, 2026, WTS Los Angeles brought together members, partners, students, and transportation leaders in Long Beach for an engaging evening featuring California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Director Dina El-Tawansy. Sponsored by WTS-LA Pinnacle Corporate Partner AECOM, the reception welcomed approximately 100 attendees representing the public and private sectors, as well as academia.

Leadership and Vision for California Transportation

The program featured remarks from Caltrans leadership, including District 7 Director Gloria Roberts, setting the stage for a discussion on the future of transportation across the state. Director Dina El-Tawansy shared insights into her leadership priorities and Caltrans’ evolving role in delivering safe, equitable, and sustainable transportation systems. She emphasized a people-first approach and the importance of  serving California’s diverse communities.

Her remarks also highlighted Caltrans’ commitment to  fostering strong partnerships with local agencies and industry to deliver complex infrastructure programs statewide.

Following the formal program, attendees continued networking, building connections, and exchanging perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping transportation across California.
