Local Learning: Dorsey and Azusa High School Students Learn about Careers in Transportation
The Transportation YOU committee, which outreaches to high school students, visited two schools recently.
HR Manager, Foothill Transit Ashlien Savage and Manager of Community Engagement, Foothill Transit Linda Apodaca, who are co-chairs of the WTS-LA Chapter Transportation YOU Committee, visited Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. Subsequently, Linda was joined by AVP & Project Manager, Arcadis, Inc. Janeen Obeid, PE at Azusa High School in Azusa.
These outreach programs give the students an opportunity to interact with successful women in the transportation industry. Linda, Ashlien, and Janeen informed female students of the many exciting careers in transportation. They shared news of the WTS-LA Chapter scholarships available and the committee's upcoming Girl’s Empowerment Day. Students were surprised, asked great questions, and seemed excited to apply for the scholarships. Winners will be recognized at WTS-LA Chapter Annual Awards dinner on November 16t, 2022, in Los Angeles.
