The session featured a panel discussion moderated by Cassandra Gascon (MassDOT) with four distinguished municipal transportation leaders:

  • Brooke McKenna, City of Cambridge
  • Lisa Chandler, City of Beverly
  • Julia Campbell, City of Boston
  • Brad Rawson, City of Somerville

Together, the panelists reflected on how the municipal transportation landscape has evolved in recent years. They highlighted growing interest in active transportation projects, the increasing accessibility of design resources, and innovative approaches to collaborating with consultants to meet shifting transportation needs.

The conversation also explored how municipal teams can sustain motivation and manage workloads in the face of limited staffing and resources. Panelists shared thoughtful insights on avoiding burnout—including staying mission-driven, celebrating small wins, standardizing design and operational processes, and investing in leadership development.
