2025 WTS-LA Award Winner Spotlight: Member of the Year Award Recipient Andie Tempelis, PE, Project Manager at HNTB  

Andie Tempelis exemplifies the mission and values of WTS through her long-standing leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the growth and excellence of the WTS-LA chapter. Over her seven years on the board, she has held multiple key roles—Programs Chair, Secretary, and currently Vice President of Membership and Communications—each time leaving a lasting impact that has strengthened the chapter’s foundation and expanded its reach.

As Programs Chair, Andie revitalized the committee by implementing a sponsor-aligned planning model that elevated the quality and relevance of chapter events. She introduced a structured program calendar in collaboration with the Corporate Sponsors Committee, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment throughout the year. Her approach enhanced sponsor value and positioned WTS-LA as a leader in hosting some of the most respected transportation events in the region.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andie led the chapter’s rapid transition to virtual programming, identifying platforms that could support large audiences and maintaining engagement during a critical time. This pivot expanded the chapter’s reach beyond Los Angeles and laid the groundwork for hybrid programming that continues to benefit other committees today.

Andie’s commitment to sustainability is evident in her mentorship of new committee members and volunteers, helping to build a strong leadership pipeline for the future. In her current role, she continues to drive growth through strategic communications and member engagement.

Andie’s vision, reliability, and collaborative leadership have not only advanced the goals of WTS-LA but have also elevated its reputation across the transportation industry. She is a true champion of the organization and an inspiring example of what it means to lead with purpose.
