WTS

On Wednesday, December 10th, the WTS Boston Programs Committee will host our Annual Meeting and December Luncheon Seminar. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Malika Reed Wilkins, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of WTS International. As the newly appointed leader of a global organization dedicated to advancing women in transportation, Dr. Wilkins will share her vision for the future of WTS and the industry—aiming to “build on the momentum of the organization, elevate new voices, and deepen our collective impact across communities and generations.”

This event also serves as our Annual Meeting, during which we will recognize the dedicated leaders who have served the WTS-Boston chapter over the past year and welcome the new members of our leadership team. This moment of appreciation and renewal reflects the strength of our chapter and aligns with the broader vision that Dr. Malika Reed Wilkins brings to WTS International.

Registration for this event is now open, and will close on Wednesday, December 3rd, or earlier if the venue reaches capacity. This event is Non-Refundable, and no shows will be billed. When registering, please note Member pricing is for Individual WTS Memberships, not Company Sponsors.

Dr. Malika Reed Wilkins is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of WTS International and the WTS Foundation.

With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit management, public policy, marketing and communications, and strategic leadership, Dr. Wilkins brings a wealth of expertise that is already elevating WTS International and the WTS Foundation to new heights and leading the organization into its next era of growth, influence, and impact.

Dr. Wilkins comes to WTSI from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), where she served as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief External Affairs Officer. In those roles, she guided the ARC’s comprehensive five-year strategic plan, aligning the agency’s mission, values, and priorities across 11 metro Atlanta counties and among dozens of regional partners. She also spearheaded the ARC’s first Transportation Demand Management Coordinating Committee, connecting leaders from transportation, housing, education, and the private sector to improve mobility for hundreds of thousands of commuters.

Her professional journey includes notable leadership roles with the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and the Georgia Department of Human Services. At SRTA Dr. Wilkins helped launch Georgia’s first Transportation Infrastructure Bank, awarding more than $81 million in grants and loans to local governments for sustainable infrastructure projects in its first year. Her efforts at SRTA also played a key role in the launch of the Atlanta region’s first commuter credits program and the first express toll lanes, which have since catalyzed billions of dollars in transportation investment.

Dr. Wilkins’ dedication to public service is matched by her impressive academic achievements. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from the University of Georgia, a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. She has received numerous awards to include the COMTO Atlanta Women Who Moves Atlanta, ACEC Georgia’s 100 Most Influential Women for eight consecutive years and a host of key awards through IBTTA and the Public Relations Society of America.

Dr. Wilkins’ WTS story began nearly 15 years ago. She has served as a local WTS chapter board member and chapter president in Atlanta, an annual conference co-chair, and a WTS international board member. Under her leadership as President of WTS Atlanta, the chapter earned the first-ever International Chapter of the Year Award, achieved the Gold Circle of Excellence Award, increased sponsorship revenue by 50 percent, and hosted the Governor of Georgia as the keynote speaker for the first time at the chapter’s scholarship luncheon. She also pioneered partnerships with Dress for Success and led chapter participation in Women’s Build projects for Habitat for Humanity.

Now, as the new CEO of WTS International, Dr. Wilkins is guiding the organization forward — expanding its reach, strengthening partnerships, and advancing women and advancing the transportation industry.
