2026-2027 WTS Charlotte Scholarship Flyer
The Charlotte Metro Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) is committed to encouraging and investing in young women who will become the next generation of transportation leaders. Each year, the Charlotte Metro Chapter solicits applications for the following WTS Foundation National Scholarships:
- Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship Application (graduate) - $10,000
- Bridgette Beato Leadership Legacy Scholarship Application (graduate) - $5,000
- Sharon D. Banks Memorial Scholarship Application (undergraduate) - $5,000
- Molitoris Leadership Scholarship Application (undergraduate) - $5,000
- Trade School/Jr. College Scholarship Application (certificate or Associates’ degree) - $2,500
- Transportation YOU High School Scholarship Application (high school senior) - $2,500
The Charlotte Metro Chapter plans to award up to $10,000 in local scholarships during the 2026-2027 scholarship cycle. Proposed scholarship opportunities may include up to $5,000 for graduate students, up to $3,000 for undergraduate students, and up to $2,000 for high school seniors. We encourage all eligible students to apply, as additional scholarship awards may be considered based on the number of applicants and the exceptional qualifications of the applicants.
Our Chapter extends the Local and National Scholarship opportunities listed above to to the greater Charlotte area, the Triad, and central North Carolina. Women local to eastern North Carolina and the Triangle metro area are encouraged to apply through the WTS NC Triangle Chapter and women in western North Carolina and South Carolina are encouraged to apply through the WTS South Carolina Chapter. We have received applications in the past from UNC Charlotte, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina.
General Requirements for Scholarships
General Requirements for scholarships are as follows:
- Open to women with a GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Enrolled in a transportation-related degree program (Not applicable for High School students);
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.
The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
Application Deadline
Applications for WTS Scholarships must be submitted via email to the WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter Scholarship Co-Chairs by December 13, 2026.
