AECOM Women “making tracks” in the Rail Industry

Over the past two years, Sarina has served as AECOM’s Philadelphia Rail Department Manager, where she has had the privilege of leading a remarkably capable and diverse team of 15 rail engineers. Sarina began her career in the rail department as an intern in 2017 and later advanced to Deputy Department Manager and finally, Department Manager. Nine of the engineers on her team are women, which has brought a strong mix of perspectives and reflects the broader trend of more women entering the engineering field. Every member of her team consistently delivers strong technical work, collaborates effectively, and manages complex project demands with confidence. Additionally, this team is well respected and routinely acknowledged for their diligence throughout the firm and most recently from global business line leaders.

Beyond her Rail department responsibilities, Sarina demonstrates her leadership style by being deeply engaged throughout the engineering community. She serves in leadership roles as the ACEC/PA Multimodal Committee Chair and AREMA C17 High Speed Rail, C2 Subcommittee Chair. She is also an active member of WTS and completed the WTS Mid‑Career Signature Leadership Program in 2023.  Sarina is committed to developing future talent and ensuring strong succession within her department. She regularly coordinates recruitment at local engineering universities, not only for her own rail team but also as a designated representative supporting AECOM’s Mid‑Atlantic regional university recruiting efforts.

Contributing to the broader engineering community alongside leading a local team with this level of talent and balance has been a privilege for Sarina and represents a true strength for the future of rail at AECOM.
