Liz Smith, P.E is a Senior Division Manager for AtkinsRéalis, and serves as the Northeast Market Lead for Rail and Transit as well as the Northeast and East Market Lead for Surface Transportation. In this role Liz will be responsible for leading and coordinating the strategy to grow AtkinsRéalis business in both rail and transit and surface transportation sectors.

With 25 years of transportation industry experience prior to AtkinsRéalis, Liz held various roles at SEPTA, the 6th largest transit agency in the Country, including Chief of Staff and Assistant Treasurer of Strategic Initiatives. In her role as Chief of Staff, she served as a key strategic advisor to the General Manager and Executive Team, as well as led complex, multi discipline projects that required executive oversight. As the Assistant Treasurer of Strategic Initiatives she oversaw all planning work for the organization, including long range planning, strategic planning, service planning and capital budgets. Prior to SEPTA, she spent time at DVRPC and McMahon Associates working as a transportation engineer.

Liz holds a BSCE from Penn State University, and a MSCE from Villanova University, and is registered Professional Engineer. She has been recognized for her work with several awards, including being named a Women in Rail Honoree by Railway Age, with the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Women of Distinction award, and with the WTS Philadelphia Member of the Year award.
