The WTS Emerging Leaders Program was instrumental in both Ayesha and Allyson's professional development. They joined WTS during the pandemic and emphasize the importance of programs like WTS that support professional growth, provide networking opportunities and foster a sense of community, especially in times of remote work and isolation. Monthly meetings featured diverse topics relevant to their field including self-awareness, workplace dynamics, personal branding, goal setting, performance reviews, leadership skills and crisis management. These sessions equipped them with practical tools and knowledge that can be applied to their roles. One of the most enriching aspects of the program was the guest speakers. Hearing directly from industry leaders about their projects and experiences has been both informative and motivating.

Most importantly, connecting with women in all different stages of their careers have fostered a sense of camaraderie and support among the women leaders as they navigate their careers.

Ayesha is a civil associate at Michael Baker International, where she provides support for the design of transportation infrastructure projects specializing in highway and roadway design. She was recognized as one of the 2023 Top Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Professionals Under 40 by Greater Valley Forge (GVF) based on her contributions to multi-modal transportation projects. She also was named the recipient of the 2023 Emerging Leader Award at the COMTO National Meeting and Training Conference. Furthermore, Ayesha was honored with the 2024 Temple University 30 Under 30 Award. Additionally, Ayesha is part of the 2023-2024 WTS Emerging Leader program. This group of young professionals meet bi-monthly to develop professional skills, meet accomplished chapter figures and kick-start their own personal networks of peers in the industry. Recently, Ayesha traveled to Rwanda as a part of a team from Michael Baker to construct a trail bridge in partnership with Bridges to Prosperity (B2P).

Allyson serves as an extension of staff as the On Call Construction Program Manager in the Capital Development Group at Philadelphia International Airport. She is responsible for providing program and project oversight for the On Call Public Works Construction contracts, which complete tasks of varying size and complexity. She was proud to represent Michael Baker on the 2023 Bridges To Prosperity Team, traveling to Rwanda, Africa, to build a footbridge in a rural community to improve access to educational and economic opportunities, as well as other vital resources. More recently, Allyson has been serving on the “45 in 45” Initiative Committee supporting WTS’ goal of achieving 45 new, different, exciting and engaging activities during WTS Philadelphia’s 45th Anniversary year.
