WTS-Boston Spring Semester Spotlight: Northeastern University
WTS-Boston's Student Chapter Committee coordinates with WTS student groups at local universities to plan and execute transportation-related programming for interested students. This spotlight highlights Northeastern University's WTS student group, who hope to become an official Student Chapter of WTS-Boston.
Club members who belong to WTS-Boston started the semester by attending the New Year's Reception in January, getting the opportunity to meet Boston area transportation professionals.
The club's first event of the semester was a panel event on interviewing, followed by a resume review. Students got advice on how to ace their co-op and entry-level interviews from panelists, and polished up their resumes just in time for the Civil Engineering Career Fair the next week. The Student Chapter committee also attended the career fair to let students know about the benefits of joining WTS-Boston!
February was full of opportunities for students to learn about public transportation. Students had the opportunity to tour the MBTA Bus Maintenance Facility in Everett one week, and then attend a talk on campus from AECOM PM Roger Gagnier about the Ruggles Station redesign project the next week! Students frequently use the MBTA Orange line and buses to get around Boston.
To end the semester, the Student Chapter Committee and WTS Northeastern hosted the W-Tea-S Alumni Mixer. This was an opportunity for students to build their network and learn about WTS in a casual setting, with tea and snacks. Students and professionals also teamed up for transportation jeopardy, with Team Fright Train taking home a victory!
Thank you to all of the WTS Student Chapter committee members, the Northeastern WTS student leadership and faculty advisors, and to everyone who volunteered at one of the spring semester's events! Here's to another great semester in the fall.
