Joint Advocacy Meeting with ACEC/PA
On February 22nd, WTS joined efforts with ACEC/PA to host an event focused on the importance on Advocacy in our industry. Keeping our industry vibrant and healthy requires constant advocacy from every member of our workforce from recent graduates to executive leaders. This special meeting is designed to explain the why’s and how’s of advocacy. Brent Salhaimer, Executive Director of ACEC PA moderated the session with our very well-known panelists including:
- Leslie Richards, SEPTA, General Manager
- Chellie Cameron, Chamber of Commerce Greater Philadelphia, President and CEO
- Representative Martina White, 170th Legislative District
Our industry does not always know how important it is to get involved in the political process nor how to interact with representatives within their area. Very vibrant discussions surrounded how to interact and approach politicians, how important advocacy is to our industry, what a PAC is and how it operates. This informative panel dispelled many ideas about the political process and hopefully educated attendees on how to best handle advocacy professionally and personally.
