WTS Philadelphia - Employee Recognition Award

In June 2021, Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Guest Experience team launched its Airport Employee Recognition Program. The program honors employees from all airport stakeholders for going above and beyond their typical job duties to create a positive experience for PHL’s guests. It was designed to boost employee morale and positively impact PHL culture airport-wide.

Personnel from across the airport community and travelers are encouraged to nominate airport employees or contractors that demonstrates three or more of the following values.

  • Customer-centrism
  • Teamwork
  • Transcending expectations
  • Proactive communication
  • Effectiveness
  • Respect
  • Integrity
  • Courage

The program was developed with the support of the Guest Experience Stakeholder Council’s Employee Conduct & Recognition Committee, which includes leadership representatives from across the airport. The Committee reviews all nominations on a quarterly basis and selects 10-12 winners.

In addition to the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation, there are numerous partners and stakeholders whose employees have been nominated and won awards over the last year and half. To-date, 75 individuals received awards and of those 40 (54%) were women! These women represent a wide variety of careers and roles including retail concessions management, customer service, fire service/paramedic, facilities supervisor, communications operator and many more.

PHL is proud to celebrate all employees, but especially the women who help keep the airport running every day.
