Congreso de Latinos Unidos / Earth Day

During the 2024-2025 school year, TrYOU volunteered at five outreach events in collaboration with the Congreso de Latinos Unidos, engaging with students from Kensington CAPA High School, Julia de Burgos Middle School, and PAN American Academy Charter School in Philadelphia. At each event, TrYOU led interactive, transportation-themed STEAM activities such as building paper bridges and spaghetti marshmallow towers, as well as creating vision boards. These hands-on projects encouraged creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, and the students were very enthusiastic. The partnership provided an opportunity to connect students with real-world applications of STEAM concepts in a fun and educational environment. In addition to school-based events, TrYOU also attended Congreso’s Earth Day celebration, where volunteers facilitated a large group activity centered on sustainability in transportation. This event emphasized the importance of environmental awareness to the students. The dedication and energy of all volunteers played a key role in the success of each event. We are grateful to the TrYOU mentors who contributed their time and effort to support these students including: Gina Venuto, Maddie Marquardt, Kate Murphy, Bridget Guinan, Erin Levitt, Amy Liu, Donna Guzewski, Caroline Ibarra, Neekita Joshi, and Kerianne Chen. TrYOU is looking forward to continuing this meaningful partnership with Congreso in the upcoming school year.
