INDOT Commissioner Event

The Indianapolis Chapter is a transportation focused organization with members representing aviation, highway, structural, planners, environmental, business development, marketing, transit,  private consultants, municipalities, and college and university students from across the state of Indiana. We also provide opportunities for professional development throughout the year. WTS gives its members all of the necessary tools:

Access

WTS provides unprecedented access to the highest levels of the transportation industry. In fact, many WTS International members are top leaders in the industry.

Professional Development

WTS  Indianapolis fosters professional development by offering a diverse mix of contacts within and across transportation sectors. We have an annual "How Did I Get Here" series with industry leaders to give guidance and share their expertise with our membership, as well as an annual event with a transportation related panel discussion to provide comprehensive educational and career-focused guidance and preparation, as well as valuable exposure to critical and timely transportation issues.

Programs

The backbone of WTS, our chapter strives to have monthly programs that facilitate member interaction with distinguished, thought-provoking events and speakers.  The programs are an intimate opportunity to engage transportation colleagues and leaders in discussions about the most vital transportation issues of the day.

Networking

Networking opportunities are a central advantage to WTS International members. A key tool to facilitating networking across chapters is the WTS Member Meetups, a members-only professional networking call that delivers access to the chapters where members can view events, announcements, participate in a variety of different discussions, collaborate on projects, and engage in dialogue with other members.

The Indianapolis chapter also hosts multiple industry joint events with other local organizations including ASCE, ITE, and SWE.

The chapter also has members that attend WTS International Events and Central Region programs.

Swings for Scholarships is an annual event hosted at Topgolf Fishers that funds our WTS Indianapolis Foundation chapter account. The Swings for Scholarships event is our chapter's largest annual event with participants from every facet of the transportation industry.

Swings for Scholarships started in an annual event since 2018 and typically hosted in April.

Transportation YOU

TransportationYOU introduces young women to transportation careers through a one-to-one mentorship program. WTS Indianapolis is working towards a partnership with Purdue Polytechnic High School North to bring transportation experiences to high school students. Our chapter also participates in the Indianapolis Indians STEMfest and other STEM events within our area.

The WTS Capital Summit, a signature program of WTS Foundation's Transportation YOU program, offers students an opportunity to meet transportation industry thought leaders, government and administration officials, and college students beginning their own career journeys in the industry. The Summit brings high school-aged mentees and transportation professional mentors to the Washington, D.C. area for a 4-day summer program of tours, lectures, and interactive experiences showcasing careers in transportation. Students register to attend the Summit through the WTS Indianapolis Chapter.

The 2023 Capital Summit was held June 25–29 at the University of Maryland, College Park. Learn more about the 2024 dates
