We are pleased to announce Katherine Riffle as our Molitoris Leadership Fund for Undergraduates Scholarship Recipient.  Katherine is a recent graduate from Northern Arizona University. She studied Mechanical Engineering as her major, with Civil Engineering and Mathematics as her minors, and graduated from the Honors College.  She plans to continue her studies at NAU as part of the Graduate Research Program where she will study Civil Engineering.

Congratulations Katherine and thank you for sharing more about yourself and your passion for the transportation industry.

What form of transportation do you prefer and why?

I enjoy taking the bus. The buses in Portland and in San Francisco allowed me to explore the cities and I really love to drive the bus. Having a bike at home in Flagstaff, however, has been indispensable, but it is only more fun when the weather is nice.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is completing my Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree in four years at NAU. I am proud to be done with mechanical engineering.

If you could choose to have lunch with anyone (past or present) who would it be and why?

I would choose to have lunch with Carrie Fisher. Her activism and acting inspired both me and my mom.

What’s next for you?

I am going to be a graduate research assistant at NAU and work toward a Civil Engineering Master’s degree.
