John Fasana, Recipient of the Inaugural WTS-LA Lois Cooper Going the Distance Award

Former Duarte Councilmember John Fasana served on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors since the agency's inception in 1993 and has been a titan of the transportation community for nearly three decades. When he retired last December, he had served on the board for 27 years, longer than any other board member. The breadth of his contribution and his statesmanship in collaborating with Southern California’s powerful political figures locally, regionally, and in both capitols fostered a balanced approach to Metro’s developing transportation system and earned John the unofficial title of “Dean of the Board.”

There has been no greater supporter committed to transportation and infrastructure improvements and no person that had a more significant role in shaping Los Angeles County's transportation landscape in the past quarter century than former Duarte Councilmember and Metro Board of Director John Fasana. His extraordinary leadership, wisdom and contributions to improving mobility and transit has made a tremendous impact and will leave an indelible mark for future generations.
