Dear WTS Community,

The start of a new decade has arrived and it’s an exciting time to be a part of WTS. The momentum is contagious across North America, and we feel it every day. The International Board is hard at work in overseeing the many initiatives underway at WTS. In this New Year, we will soon realize the benefits of the important investments undertaken in 2019 that will help our organization increase efficiencies, serve our members better and strengthen the delivery of our programs and services.

As we welcome 2020, let’s begin by embracing what is in front of us. The industry continues to be filled with fascinating trends. A few come to mind. Autonomous vehicles continue to gain investment and the race to get us all driving one is on. Mobility as a Service means public and private organizations are coming together to develop a network of mobility options that are even more accessible, affordable and timely. Communities are investing in Smart Streets to keep us safe. Climate solutions are required and clean energy is the only energy of the future. Public agencies are working together to find integrated solutions to congestion by offering multi-modal choices and using technology to operate the systems more efficiently. Battery-powered, e-cargo bikes for delivery companies are making their debut where bike lanes will gain an even bigger footprint on our streets. Exciting times in our industry and so many themes to generate interest at Chapter monthly programs!

At WTS, 2020 will usher in a refreshed look, feel, and image that will strengthen our strong vision and mission in the marketplace. Over a year ago, the Board and staff assembled a plan to discover, develop and implement a brand that reflects our organization today and into the future. The brand refresh effort has been extensive where a great amount of input has been captured and applied, and numerous revisions have been made. In the coming months, the International team will continue to develop the visual space around the brand refresh. We are confident that we will preserve the integrity of the organization, infuse the industry with new vitality, ensure our image keeps up with the changing marketplace, and expands our reach to new members. Our communication plans will keep you abreast of what is coming and that there will be plenty of time throughout the year to embrace and use the refreshed brand.

Thank you for all that you are doing each and every day. Let’s keep the momentum going.

Sincerely,
