Angélique Umutoniwase from Washington State University

Ange is a current graduate student pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree at Washington State University. For her MS thesis, Ange is working on development of quality assurance methods to improve the performance of chip seal construction through more vigorous testing methods that can be used nationwide. She is a Fulbright Scholar and has held numerous leadership positions throughout her time in school, as an intern, and as a Quality Assurance Engineer at the Rwanda Transport Development Agency. According to her supervisor in Rwanda, “within the first few weeks she displayed great leadership skills in guiding and mentoring the junior engineers and kept up this leadership role throughout the entire project”. The WTS Spokane/Coeur d’Alene chapter is honored to celebrate Ange’s achievements and to award her the 2020 Maggie Walsh Leadership Legacy Graduate Scholarship.
