Please join us for a Lunch and Learn to hear about the Richmond IM 089-2(52) project. Andrew Lemieux, P.E. (VTrans) will provide an overview of the project which includes the replacement of a state-owned bridge carrying traffic on US-2 over I-89.

The existing 8-span structure has been replaced with a 2 span, curved, steel girder bridge. The $18 million project was designed and developed by VTrans staff, with assistance by our partners at VHB. Construction began in 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of June 2025. The presentation will cover the full development of the project, including the advanced materials and techniques used for efficient design and construction. Topics will include the use of finite element analysis for the design of the superstructure and 3D modeling of the reinforcing steel for select components.

Andrew Lemieux, P.E. has 10 years of Engineering experience, and for the last 7 years, he has worked in the Structures Section at VTrans. In his role, he leads the design development for bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects. His experience includes culverts, prestressed beams and steel girder integral abutment bridges, and continuous multi-span structures. He also is involved in the development of the Section’s design tools, design guidelines, and the Agency’s digital delivery efforts.
