The bad news: Transportation continues to be primary (or the leading) source of carbon emissions in the Denver metro region…..well, actually all of Colorado.

The better news: Steadily, our state’s transportation sector is evolving through an ongoing transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and other initiatives to reduce carbon-based vehicle miles traveled (VMT).

So where are we now and what’s next!?

This happy hour session will feature Sarah Thorne, Senior Program Manager with the Colorado Energy Office. Sarah will bring us up to speed with a recap on Colorado’s EV targets and how we’re progressing. She will also highlight the initiatives that she and her team at the CEO are leading and what opportunities that presents for communities throughout Colorado.

Knowing that many cities and towns are eager to make progress at the ‘local’ level and seeking out ways to move the needle, Mike Salisbury will walk us through Denver’s story. As the Transportation Energy Lead with Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency (CASR), Mike will share what he and the CASR team are doing to deliver a more sustainable / less carbon intensive transportation system. He’ll highlight what CASR is doing to help electrify transportation in Denver among city fleet vehicles, privately owned cars and trucks, and bicycles We hope that Denver’s exciting progress will inspire local communities in attendance to begin or continue their EV and other carbon reduction evolutions at a scale appropriate to them.

In addition, Jill Locantore, Executive Director of the Denver Streets Partnership, will discuss how the ongoing transition to electric vehicles, including e-bikes, relates to other (Denver) goals such as community safety, equity, livability, and VMT reduction.

Come join us to learn, share your own insights, and network with others while enjoying some cold beverages and tasty apps.

Transportation: Let’s help decrease our carbon footprint one ride at a time! Please plan to use RTD’s FREE public transportation to get to and from the venue! Bus Route 0 and 0L both stop along Broadway within walking distance to the venue.
