Please join us for our February luncheon!  Learn about the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 5) from the President, Sherry Weesner, P.E.

Sherry Weesner is the President of the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 5), a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone in the City of Houston. The TIRZ uses tax increment dollars to improve public infrastructure to benefit the City of Houston, the Zone and the local residents and businesses. Currently, the Zone is reconstructing Shepherd, Durham and selected cross streets from I-10 to 610 to improve drainage, replace water and wastewater infrastructure, reduce congestion, improve pedestrian facilities, and add bicycle facilities. The TIRZ is also working on several other safety improvement projects including the intersection at Yale and Center, improvements to the MKT trail and bike lanes on Heights Boulevard, a segment of the trail connection from White Oak Bayou to Memorial Park, bike Facilities on West Dallas from Dunlavy to Waugh, safety improvements on 19th street, and at Waugh and South Heights, and pursuing several additional infrastructure grant opportunities.
