WTS International Attends Conversation with Paul Wiedefeld, General Manager and CEO, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)

On June 21, 2019, Sara Stickler, WTS Executive Director, and April Rai, WTS Director, attended a special conversation with Paul Wiedefeld, General Manager and CEO, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) hosted by the WTS-DC Chapter.  

 

Adrienne Ameel, PE, WTS-DC Chapter President, Transportation Engineer, Kimley-Horn, kicked of the event, the theme of which was “Putting Dedicated Funding to Work.” Cathy Connor, WTS-DC Board Advisor moderated.  

 

Wiedefeld made a point to highlight the women leaders in WMATA who were in attendance. Earlier in the month, WMATA was recognized by the Washington Post for elevating three women to WMATA Rail leadership Stickler was quoted in the article saying, “At WTS International, we understand the power of diverse women to solve diverse problems. The selection of three women to leadership for WMATA Rail is a testament to that belief. I look forward to seeing the achievements made by WMATA Rail under their new and capable leadership.” 

 

Of the event, Stickler said, “Discussions such as this one are important to provide transparency and trust-building. It was great to understand more about the changes made to WMATA from Paul Wiedefeld as well as upcoming adjustments based on true listening and collaboration.”
