WTS Young Professionals' Future City Competition Judging

06:00 PM - 08:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

HNTB
Empire State Building, 350 5th Ave
New York, NY , 10118

The WTS-GNY Young Professionals’ Committee will be hosting a volunteer event where members will come together to both judge Future City models and network with other young professionals in the Greater New York transportation industry.

The Future City Competition is a non-profit national competition sponsored by the engineering community to promote technological literacy and engineering to middle school students. The competition consists of three phases:

  1. design a city using SIM City software,
  2. write an essay and abstract about the city,
  3. make a scale model of the city and present your city to a panel of engineer judges on the day of the competition.

Past topics include stormwater management, urban agriculture, and green energy. The 2018-2019 topic is "Powering Our Future". WTS-YP will volunteer to complete judging prior to the competition day. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
