WTS Reading Group: The confidence code: The science and art of self-assurance – What women should know

WTS Reading Group: The confidence code: The science and art of self-assurance – What women should know

Please join us at our next reading group for a discussion of why a lack of confidence often stands in the way of women succeeding in the careers we want, and how to identify and stop the unconscious behaviors that may be holding us back.
While the discussion will center around ideas presented in Kay & Shipman’sThe confidence code (available from area public libraries and in hardback/electronic formats), several resources that touch on these ideas will be provided for those who don’t wish to read the book in its entirety.
Examples include:

  • “The confidence gap” by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman for The Atlantic(2014)
  •  “How women can narrow the ‘confidence gap’” by Mary Civiello forFortune (2014)
  •  “It’s not you, it’s science: How perfectionism holds women back” by Jessica Bennett for Time (2014)
  • “Competent women are getting bypassed by overconfident men,” interview with Claire Shipman by Ezra Klein for Vox (2014)
  • “The No. 1 way women can succeed more at work” by Kerry Hannon forForbes.com (2014)
  • “Want the corner office?  Stop making these 3 mistakes” by Caroline McMillan Portillo for  Bizwomen (2014)

When:   Thursday, March 5,  12 to 1 PM

Where: Dexter Horton Building Conference Room, 710 Second Avenue, 15thfloor Downtown Seattle

There is no cost for attendance. Coffee and treats will be provided.

Please RSVP to Kara Luckey (kara.luckey@gmail.com) by Monday March 2nd if you plan to attend. Please also let Kara know if you cannot attend the March meeting, but are interested in learning more about future Reading Groups.
