Speaker:                   Shelley Row, P.E., PTOE, MBA

Shelley Row founded Shelley Row Associates LLC following a distinguished 29-year transportation career including service with Texas DOT, the Institute of Transportation Engineers and 21 years with the USDOT.  Her career as a transportation engineer started in 1984 when women engineers were few. She worked as a transportation engineer in Texas, California, Arizona, North Carolina and Georgia during the 1996 Olympic Games. Later, she served as the Chief Technical Officer for the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

She is a recognized expert in transportation programs, management, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).  Ms. Row is widely-known within the transportation community for her leadership, vision and organizational skills. She applied this knowledge during tenures as FHWA’s Director for the Office of Transportation Operations and in her five-years as the Director of the ITS Joint Program Office where she managed a staff of highly-skilled, technical professionals and a $110 million annual budget. She was responsible for establishing the strategic direction for the national ITS program.  Shelley is an award-winning leader with top honors in her agency.

But, a career as an engineer and senior executive was not enough.  In 2010, after planning and saving for five years, Shelley and her husband left their careers behind and moved to France. They lived like a local in a Provençal village for ten months where they experienced a lifestyle rich in everything except a career and title. After ten months in France, they traveled around the world returning home to Annapolis, Maryland.  After returning, Shelley published three books of her stories written while living and traveling abroad.

In October 2012, Ms. Row left her position at U.S.DOT to found her company. Shelley Row Associates (SRA) LLC is a two-part company. SRA provides transportation consulting services specializing in intelligent transportation systems and strategic planning. Secondly, SRA provides leadership speaking, workshops and coaching on leadership decision-making and goal achievement. She is currently researching a book on the role of intuition in leadership for which she has interviewed more than 60 leaders from the public, private, academic and political sectors. You can follow her leadership research through Twitter (@shelleyrow) or by signing up for the Intuitive LeadershipTM  newsletter on her website. Shelley is a sought-after speaker with hundreds of presentations to her credit including for national and international groups from 20 to 1000. She appeared on live TV and radio. She recently released two professional development Minibüks (come to find out what these are).
