Electric Vehicles:  the Future of Auto Transportation- Sharon Sarris, founder and former co-chair of the Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Alliance

The Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Alliance (MBEVA), founded in 2009, is a California grassroots public-private partnership, whose overall mission is to promote rapid adoption of plug-in electric vehicles. Volunteers ranging from business and public agency representatives to auto retailers and vehicle manufacturers to concerned citizens from the tri-county region are working together to promote widespread adoption of electric vehicles. MBEVA takes a holistic approach to this effort by tackling consumer education, government policies, charging station infrastructure, community outreach, funding, economic development and job creation. MBEVA is committed to working with the region to develop a network of EV charging stations strategically designed to relieve “range anxiety” that EV owners may experience in order to spur the adoption of electric vehicles.

Sharon Sarris will share the big picture about plug-in electric vehicles as well as details about EV models, how they work, the benefits, charging station infrastructure and government incentives.  Sharon was the public affairs director at General Motors for thirteen years and worked on the team that launched the first modern-day electric car, the GM EV1, in the mid-1990s.  She currently drives a Chevrolet Volt.
