WTS-Boston 2018 November Luncheon Seminar

11:30 AM - 01:15 PM Eastern Standard Time

Omni Parker House
60 School Street
Boston, MA , 02108

On Thursday November 15th, WTS-Boston will host John Dalton, the Program Manager for the Green Line Extension (GLX) Project at the MBTA. A little over two years ago, the MBTA's $2.3 billion Green Line Extension faced potential cancellation due to cost overruns and overall delivery uncertainty. Since joining the MBTA in November 2016, John has taken over as Program Manager for GLX. Through the implementation of a cost-cutting re-design, innovative design-build procurement and optimization of risk-sharing between the owner and the selected design-build team, the project is now underway again and an issuance of Notice to Proceed ten months ago to "GLX Constructors" joint venture. Revenue service is scheduled for the end of 2021.

After graduating from Davidson College, John served in the US Navy from 1995-2002. After leaving the Navy, John accepted a position at the Chicago Transit Authority and served as Chief of Staff of the infrastructure division and as Project Manager of the Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project - the CTA's largest ever capital improvement project. John left the CTA in 2007 to join Parson Transportation Group on the Dubai Metro Project in the United Arab Emirates. Following his work in the Middle East, John returned to the United States to continue his work with the Chicago Transit Authority. In November 2016, John joined the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) where he began serving as Program Manager for the MBTA's Green Line Extension Project.
