WTS Book Club: Leaning in, standing up straight, acting with confidence, and balancing our lives

Please join us for the last book club meeting before summer break, when we’ll be discussing several articles and other commentary that challenge and complement the perspective presented in Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In. Discussion material will be provided in advance of the meeting to those who have RSVPed.
Examples include:

  • "Why I'd rather stand up straight than lean in"by Kristin van Ogtrop for Huffington Post (27. February 2014)
  • “The confidence gap”by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman for The Atlantic Monthly (14. April 2014)
  • “Your body language shapes who you are,”by Amy Cuddy for TED Global (June 2012)
  • “Why women still can’t have it all,” by Anne Marie Slaughter for The Atlantic Monthly (13. June 2012)
  • Excerpts from “Wonder women: Sex, power, and the quest for perfection” by Debora Spar

Suggestions for additional discussion material are welcome!

When:   Monday June 23rd, 5:30 to 7:00 PM

Where: Downtown Seattle location (TBA)

There is no cost for attendance. Light snacks will be provided, with members providing their own beverages.

Please RSVP to Kara Luckey (kara.luckey@gmail.com) by Friday June 20th if you plan to attend. If you are interested in participating in the Book Club but cannot attend the meeting, please also let us know so that we can include you in further conversations about its development.
