WTS and ASCE Hawaii Joint Dinner Meeting

05:30 PM - 08:00 PM Hawaiian Standard Time

The Old Spaghetti Factory (Aloha Tower)
3 Aloha Tower Drive, #1106
Honolulu, HI , 96813

Join us for our October Dinner Meeting at The Old Spagetti Factory at Aloha Tower, sponsored by D'Artagnan Consulting. Speakers Scot Urada and Shari Chang will discuss the Hawaii Road Usage Charge project and the Girl Scouts of Hawaii STEM Center for Excellence at Camp Paumalu.

HiRUC Demonstration Project: Scot Urada will provide an update on the three-year project to investigate the use of a per-mile fee to fund upkeep of roads and bridges instead of the current system where drivers pay at the pump. With a RUC system, vehicle owners pay for actual miles driven instead of paying a state tax on the fuel they purchase. Hawaii is one of a dozen states, including California, Utah and Oregon, researching whether the switch to a pay-per-mile-driven charge is feasible and how it might be implemented. Many important factors such as sustainability, fairness, information and privacy protection are under consideration.

Girl Scouts of Hawaii STEM Center for Excellence at Camp Paumalu: Learn about the development of the first STEM Center on Oahu and the unique project delivery with the military’s Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program from GSH CEO, Shari Chang.
