Visit to a Ghost Station

03:45 PM - 05:30 PM GMT Standard Time

Take a tour of the disused Aldwych Underground Station

We are delighted to offer this exclusive tour of Aldwych Underground Station.  This Grade II listed building opened its doors to the public in 1907 and finally closed in 1994.  Originally called The Strand, its fascinating history includes being used during both World Wars as an air raid shelter and to store the nation’s art collection. These days it is used for emergency planning activities and is a popular location for films and TV programmes.
On this one hour tour you will learn about the history of both the Piccadilly line and Aldwych Station. You will see the restored ticket hall which retains most of its Edwardian finishes, many of which are rare surviving examples unique to this site, as well as the original lifts.  The tour will also take in the lower passageways and platforms, pointing out architectural details and explaining how the areas were used.
The tour is strictly for members and is restricted to just ten places so early registration is advised
