The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of WTS (WTS-SF) invites you to join us in celebrating the recent appointments of two key officials in our Bay Area Transportation Agencies earlier this year.In addition, we will have the privelege to hear from Mackenzie Majors, who attended Transportation YOU, a 5-day summit in Washington D.C. Mackenzie will share her experience meeting fellow students and mentors, experiencing the D.C. area, and learning about our Nation's Capitol.

Alix Bockelman has been elevated to Deputy Executive Director for Policy at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) following the retirement of Ann Flemer who spent 32 years with MTC. Bockelmanjoined MTC in 1998 and has been involved on Transportation Research Board in Washington, D.C. Prior to being elevated to her new position, she served as director of MTC's Programming and Allocations section since 2005, overseeing the strategic financial planning and managing the distribution of more than $1 billion annually in federal, state, and regional transportation funds. Additionally, she was recognized as "Woman of the Year" by WTS-SF in 2007.

Nancy Whelan has been appointed to General Manager for the Marin County Transit District taking over for interim manager Barbara Duffy. A resident of Marin County, veteran transportation management consultant, and founder of Nancy Whelan Consulting; she has provided expert technical and managerial services to agencies across the Bay Area. She is a recognized expert in strategic and financial planning, funding and grant management, captial project development, and oganizational development. She has served in posts for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and as intermin manager for the San Francisco Municipal Railway.
