The WTS Heart of Texas Chapter is honored to present Lorena Echeverria de Misi, P.E., Director of Transportation Planning & Development (TP&D), TxDOT.

Lorena began her career at the Pharr District and San Antonio District before working in consulting for 14 years. In 2012, she rejoined her TxDOT family at the Austin District as the Central Texas Regional Mobility (CTRMA) engineering liaison. Under this role, Lorena was responsible for coordinating the planning, development and implementation of design-build projects between the CTRMA, TxDOT, and the Federal Highway Administration.

In 2013, she took on the role of TP&D Director for the Austin District. In 2014, Lorena was named as the department's first Division Director for Professional Engineering Procurement Services (PEPS) Division, responsible for standing up a new division for TxDOT. With the understanding that this was to be a 24-month assignment, Lorena returned back to the Austin District in 2016 and assumed her previous position as TP&D Director. She is responsible for managing the district's 10-year project portfolio including programming, funding, planning, environmental, schematics, ROW, utilities, survey, and final design.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University in 1992, and a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in International Business, from UT San Antonio in 1996.
