The WTS - Heart of Texas Chapter is honored to present Al Alonzi as the featured speaker for our March 2016 luncheon program.  

Al was named the FHWA Texas Division Administrator in July 2014.  As a key member of the Agency leadership team, Al exercises executive direction over the $3.3B annual Federal-aid apportionment to the state of Texas, one of the largest and most complex Federal-aid programs in the Nation. As Division Administrator, he leads a multidisciplinary staff of 50 professionals in Austin to provide stewardship, oversight and guidance to state and local funding recipients to continuously improve mobility in Texas.   He is committed to remaining a relevant partner in Texas while advancing national transportation goals. 

Before this appointment, Al served as the Deputy Division Administrator for the Texas Division Office.  He has been with FHWA for 25 years.  Al served FHWA in multiple capacities across the United States, including FHWA Washington, DC Headquarters.   


Al is a graduate of the FHWA Highway Engineer Training Program.  He received a BS in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, and is a graduate of the AASHTO National Transportation Leadership Institute.  He and his wife Susan have 3 children and spend most of their free time watching them in action on the soccer fields.
