WTS Sacramento is pleased to welcome Matt Randall and Kevin Ordway, with Placer County Department of Public Works and Facilities, on Thursday, March 22nd for a presentation on the Morton Road emergency repair project

In early January 2017, Northern California experienced unusually heavy precipitation, resulting in high flows in local creeks, streams and rivers. On January 10th, approximately 75 feet of Morton Road over Canyon Creek in Placer County washed out as a result of the intense storms in the region. Morton Road serves as the main access to at least 15 homes, a business and a recreation camp in the Alta neighborhood. Placer County engineers had to work quickly to establish temporary access for the residents, determine the appropriate repair for the site, and then design and construct the repair as rapidly as possible to restore permanent access on Morton Road. A new bridge was designed, constructed, and open to the public within six months of the storm. Senior Civil Engineers Kevin Ordway and Matt Randall will present on the challenges they faced during the process, and the solutions they provided that allowed the road to be repaired and reopened in record time.
